Tatlong Nikkeijin and Six Photos: Culture, People and State Power Talong Nikkeijin and Six Photos: Culture, People and State Power presents two novel ways of capturing the intimacy of contemporary Philippines-Japan relations. It uses photos and diaries of Nikkeijin. Its title violates the rules of proper communication in Philippine society: avoid code-switching could have been avoided, but good grammar was purposefully avoided and three languages were deliberately mixed to convey the richness and complexity of the intimate relationship. Contributors Lydia N. Yu Jose is professor of Political Science at the Ateneo de Manila University. She has written several books and journal articles on Philippines-Japan relations, the major ones being Japan Views the Philippines (1992, rev. 1999) Filipinos in Japan and Okinawa (2002), and An Annotated Bibliography of Philippines-Japan Relations (with Ricardo Trota Jose)(1998). Among the major anthologies she has edited and contributed chapters to is The Past, Love, Money and Much More: Philippines-Japan Relations Since the End of the Second World War (2008). Copyright 2009. 6x9 inches. 128 pages ISBN: 978-971-042-604-1
