Psychology of Transformation: The Philippine Perspective—Philosophy, Theory and Practice

The book is an outcome of phenomenological research with HRD-OD Systems professionals and academics, as well as study of related published research. It spans almost four decades of the author’s teaching and professional experience in the field of human development.

The book aims to serve as a resource synthesis for advanced professionals, for professors of human behavior in organizations and organization psychology, and for all human development practitioners. It also seeks to reach the general reading public, particularly those interested/involved in Self-Mastery who may wish to share their learning/insights derived from this book with those they interact with in their daily lives.

About the Author

Dr. Carmela D. Ortigas holds a doctorate in Social Psychology. She has retired from full-time teaching at the Ateneo de Manila University and thereafter the Ateneo de Zamboanga University, during which time she also served as OD Systems Consultant to the Office of the President.

In Baguio City where she has relocated, she maintains her active and creative lifestyle teaching at the Saint Louis University, the University of Cordilleras, and the University of the Philippines, Baguio. She also conducts workshops on different aspects of human development for various sectoral groups/organizations.

Dr. Ortigas is the author of well-received books such as Group Process and the Inductive Method: Theory and Practice in the Philippines; Training for Empowerment; and Poverty Revisited: A Social Psychological Approach to Community Empowerment. Her most recent book Creative Solo Parenting: Here’s How! was published in 2008. She also edited Human Resource Development: The Philippine Experience, Readings for the Practitioners; and co-edited Building Peace: Essays on Psychology and the Culture of Peace; and Essence of Wellness: Essays in Philippine Clinical and Counseling Psychology.
